Heat Stiffening: Clean, Stable and Automatable

For more than two decades we have shown that the most reliable way to stiffen surgical sutures is with controlled heat. Glue‑based methods are messy, inconsistent and difficult to validate, whereas heat stiffening is clean, repeatable and stable. Once a program is validated, the output is always the same — independent of operators or batch changes.

  • Minimal waste: our process produces only 1–2 m of scrap per full spool, saving cost on expensive fibers.
  • Enables automation: a clean, predictable tip geometry is essential for automated processes; glue introduces sticky residue and variability.
  • Stable and clean: no contamination risk, consistent quality and easy integration into cleanroom environments.

Four‑Blade Precision Cutting

Our machines employ a four‑blade scissor geometry, ensuring that every cut is clean and repeatable. This design eliminates fraying, even on complex or angled cuts, and provides long‑term mechanical stability for millions of cycles.
